MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATE PROGRAM \ WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME?
Our Management Associate program has a:
Heavy emphasis on working in all aspects of the operation and gaining a solid knowledge base of each department – from the ground up. Each of your eight month rotations will include areas of focus in such disciplines as; Rooms, Culinary, Food & Beverage, Marketing & Sales, Revenue Management, Accounting and Spa Operations. We want Associates that aren’t afraid to “get in the trenches” and learn each position with enthusiasm and humility. (Don’t worry though – we won’t let you get lost doing routine jobs. We’ll balance your learning with both hands-on opportunities and time spent learning the management functions as well.)
Strong coaching and mentoring opportunities with key leaders and Human Resource/Training professionals to ensure you exhibit the right behaviors and qualities expected of all Vail Resorts/RockResorts leaders. You will have structured bi-weekly meetings with the department manager in each area you rotate through. You will also have monthly meetings with your assigned “mentor” to facilitate your development. A corporate or regional level sponsor will help to oversee your progress and assigned placement. He/she will touch base with you, at a minimum, once a quarter. You will also join a monthly corporate conference call with all Management Associates to compare experiences, share learning points and discuss any opportunities for improvement.
Your career with Vail Resorts/RockResorts Hospitality Division will begin by attending our comprehensive corporate orientation. You’ll also get the chance to tour the corporate offices and have lunch with some of the Hospitality Lodging Division leaders.

Next, you’ll go to the property that was mutually selected for your first eight month rotation. You’ll meet with the property HR team to get assistance with housing and take care of all necessary personnel paperwork.
- You will attend the mountain, if applicable, and the property orientation programs. It is important that you study the details about the property from the website and by reading all the marketing materials provided to you. You need to quickly become well acquainted with each lodging assignment to become a strong asset to the property.
- The property Human Resources Director will provide you with an on-line “Management Orientation” in addition to the employee orientation. This will help to provide detailed information about our company, the properties management philosophy, and procedures you’ll need to understand to be a successful leader within the resort. The first week as a Management Associate is filled with one-on-one meetings with key Executive team members and Managers. You will also go on in depth property tours of specific areas to help you first understand the big picture, and secondly, see how each area works together to provide unparalleled service levels to our guests.
- You will have the opportunity, and are highly encouraged to, take part in a variety of service, computer, finance and management training classes. We want to ensure your learning continues after your college education. (We’ll provide you with entertaining and content packed training programs that peak your interest and challenge you to be your best.)

Marketing and Sales are integral to our growth and success. You will have the opportunity of interfacing with these areas either by selecting an essay question that focuses on Sales or by helping on a key project within Marketing or Sales that will benefit both our resort and your knowledge base of this area.
After successful completion of the two year Management Associate role, you will interview & be placed in a mutually beneficial management position at one of our resorts. |
